Zero PING LANs LAN is Go!

Anonymous writes "We're out at the event location and setup is proceeding swiftly! Looking forward to seeing you all again. Remember to use the north entrance when arriving at the venue. You will see our classic Zero PING Events sign outisde the door.

Some last minute updates, we have a CS Source maplist, it is as follows:

dust2, inferno, nuke, train and contra

Please refrain from paying with paypal at this point and simply bring cash where possible.

Remember you can bring your own chair if you like, one will be provided as is, but they're nothing special. Also be sure to bring a power bar and an ethernet cable of at least 20' in length or more. If you don't have either we will have some for rent at the location.

Look forward to seeing you all soon!

Zero PING LANs WCG Qualifier Open and some info on Cash Prizes

Anonymous writes "So that you're aware the Counterstrike 1.6 tournament will not only be a cash prize tournament but it will also be a WCG Qualifier. If the winning team has already qualified in a different event the runner up will qualify instead.

So you are aware of how the formula for cash prizes work at Zero PING, here it is. The winning team takes 70% of the cash pot while the 2nd place team takes 30%. WHERE POSSIBLE and at our sole discretion as to if we can afford to do it without losing money we will reimburse the third teams tournament entry fee (not the door fee, just the tournament entry fee only). Also should we have some hardware prizes available we will provide them to the third place team. As an example, say a particular tournament has 10 teams enter, each team pays $75 tournament entry fee, making a cash pot of $750. The winning team will be awarded $500 while the 2nd place team will be awarded $250. If it's 20 teams then the prize money for 1st place would be $1000 and for 2nd place $500. This is just basic math and as our staff sees it is the most fair way of doing things. So when you ask us what the prize will be for a particular tournament this is why we can't give you a solid answer, as it is based upon the number of teams who compete in said tournament. Just want to make sure you're all aware of the way this works so there's no false preceptions as to what the prize money will be for a given tournament.

Zero PING LANs July 4th Celebrations

Anonymous writes "At Zero PING we realize many Americans will be missing out on their usual 4th of July celebrations if they attend our event. We will do what we can to make it up to you with a show of our own. Not sure how much we'll be able to get away with in the way of fireworks action, but as July 1st is our Nation's birthday I'm sure some fireworks might be able to be procured. Either way we Canadians will be more happy to assist you in your 4th of July celebrations while out of country, I'm fairly sure your nation will forgive you.

Zero PING LANs Tournament Team Signup Open

So I remembered that if you register an account on here you can sign up a team, yay for remembering things. Anyways, if you're coming out with a team to compete in one of the tournaments please get all your members signed up in the 2008 LAN section. Once you've done so have the team captain goto the Tournaments section to create your team for the appropriate game. Any problems just let me know via email, on IRC or in our forums, myself or another ZPE staff member will try to help you out ASAP.

Zero PING LANs Team Signup and Prizes

Bringing a team to the LAN for one of the tournaments? Just email info@zeropingevents.com with your team name and members so we can list you on the website for others to know to expect you. Don't pre-pay your tournament entry fee, simply have the cash on-hand when you show up at the event.

At this time none of the tournaments have a guaranteed cash prize (unfortunately we're not well off enough to be giving away cash) but don't let that discourage you from coming out and having a great time. The tournaments will all be cash-in/cash-out (ie prize money will be divied up between the winning teams). We will also have some hardware prizes available to be won.

Zero PING LANs Gallery and Forums back online

Hey everyone, the gallery and forums are now back online. The forums however are no longer integrated directly with the rest of the website, as such you'll need to register separately for them.

Otherwise preparations continue for the event. There has been interest expressed in seeing a CS 1.6 tournament as well at the event. We'll be happy to help manage a 1.6 tournament but we need volunteers to help run it. Please let us know if you'd be willing to help so we can add this to the list.
